Force '06 Girls—2018 Starfire Xtreme Cup Girls U13 Silver Division Finalists

Competing in their third tournament of the season, the Force '06 Girls showed steady improvement over the summer, and advanced to the finals of the 2018 Starfire Xtreme Cup Tournament held at Starfire Athletic Complex in Tukwila, WA—training facility for the Seattle Sounders FC.

The girls battled hard all weekend, and never gave up. In our final match of the group stage, we had only 2 subs and were playing in intense heat on artificial turf. But the girls played smart soccer with great communication and passing sequences to finish strong by putting two shots in the back of the net. I was very proud of them for persevering, and their hard work paid off.

The Force '06 Girls battled against teams from West Narrows FC, ISC Gunners Premier, and Newport FC, and did just enough to advance to the final match of the Girls U13 Silver Division with a 2-0 win over Newport FC plus some help from tie-breakers over West Narrows. After a tough match, the ISC Gunners came out on top with a 2-0 win over Force.

This was the second appearance for the Force '06 Girls at the Starfire Xtreme Cup which benefits The Goodtimes Project that was formed in late 2013 to carry on the 30-year legacy of Camp Goodtimes to ensure local kids battling childhood cancer could enjoy a fun week of summer camp at no-cost. The Goodtimes Project vision is that all families affected by childhood cancer will experience a community of hope, joy, and love. When cancer becomes your world, The Goodtimes Project creates caring spaces for local families to connect and kids to be kids, through camps, events, and programs.

This has been a great tournament for us over the past couple of summers. Starfire is a top-notch facility, and we have had the opportunity to compete against teams we don’t normally face in the regular season. Plus I really like the fact that this tournament is supporting a great cause (The Goodtimes Project) that I think we can all get behind.
